The Northern Swing Orchestra – 16 Piece Big Band

The Northern Swing Orchestra is a 16 piece Big Band based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, we play some of the very best in big band music.

We have an extensive Swing Band library including numbers made famous by the bands of Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, and Count Basie, to name just a few. More recently, the band’s library has grown to include new arrangements by some of the country’s leading composers and arrangers.

The vocalists enthral audiences with classic Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darrin, Ella Fitzgerald and Judy Garland numbers.

It’s full steam ahead for The Northern Swing Orchestra as they prepare for their forthcoming festive concert ‘Swing into Christmas’, on stage at The Kings Hall in Ilkley on Friday 19 December 2025

Jonathan, the 16 piece Big Band and singers have been working hard to put the finishing touches to this year’s show, which features Cherie Gears and Stephen Amer.

Yorkshire’s premier Big Band promises a night of the very best Christmas songs and traditional festive favourites. It guarantees to have you tapping along, singing and laughing in your seats! The show includes holiday classics such as ‘Jingle Bells, ‘Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town’ and ‘White Christmas’ as well as festive versions of Big Band instrumental classics.
